Open Mic Night

Comedians, poets, writers and musicians are all welcome…and of course audience members! If you want Kenneth to accompany you at the piano, bring music printed out in your key. All singers are encouraged to sing with live accompaniment.

Sign-up for those who wish to perform is from 6:30 (when the doors open) to 6:55 pm. There are a limited number of spots and they are on a first come, first served basis. Many people are there at 6:30 when the doors open to sign up

The evening is structured as a traditional open mic night with the Featured Entertainer doing a set in the middle of the evening.

We ask that you keep your material ‘family friendly’.
Some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

Wendy Scherl (Featured Entertainer) – Following an 18 year hiatus from performing, Wendy returned to the cabaret stage in 2015 with her show, What Do You Do All Day (Directed by Helen Baldasarre) at Don’t Tell Mama. Since returning to the cabaret stage, she has performed in many shows including Richard Skipper Celebrates (Debut Show at The Triad), Gone Too Soon (Metropolitan Room), Cabaret Cares Benefit (Metropolitan Room), and Bobbie Horowitz’ series “It’s Just a Number.” During the summer of 2016, Wendy participated in The Metropolitan Room’s Metro Star Talent search, where she was named the first runner up from the 60 contestant field. She is currently working on a new show titled “New Scherl in Town” with Director Barry Kleinbort and Musical Director Christopher Denny. Early in her career, Wendy performed in numerous regional theatre productions around the country, including some of her favorite productions: Hair (The official 20th Anniversary Production in Chicago), Grease (numerous roles), Annie (Grace), The Pajama Game (Babe), and Godspell. Wendy graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Theatre.
